TUNE IN - What if singing was your new form of self-care?

I've always believed that singing is about so much more than getting the notes right. It's about how it makes us feel.

What if singing wasn't just something we did to perform, entertain others or show off a particular talent or skill, but something we did simply for ourselves? Something that could help us slow down, reconnect with our bodies, express ourselves and feel a little better?

This is an idea I'm really passionate about, and one that has been inspiring much of my work recently.

Back in January 2025, I started offering free online workshops, with the simple aim of giving my singers something extra, while also inviting anyone curious to get a glimpse of me and see how I work. I wanted to create opportunities to explore the voice, learn something new and, most importantly, experience the joy that singing can bring. My very first online workshop was called "Sing Yourself Happier". Since then, I've offered a variety of workshops covering singing, songwriting, vocal health and advice for independent artists.

After the summer break, I returned with an online workshop in September, this time exploring singing as self-care and how using our voices can help calm the nervous system. I love spreading awareness about the connection between our voices and our wellbeing. We often think of singing as something that requires a certain level of ability, or something we do for an audience. But our voices are always with us, and singing can be a wonderful way to reconnect with ourselves. It gives us an opportunity to breathe, release tension, express emotions and simply enjoy being in the moment.

TAKING SINGING BEYOND PERFORMANCE
For a long time, I've had an idea to also take these online workshops and turn them into an in-person experience. I wanted to explore the idea that singing has benefits beyond performance, and that it can be something we use to look after ourselves. So, this month, I teamed up with yoga teacher and sound healer Cyrièle to bring that idea to life.

Together, we created TUNE IN – a combined singing, yin yoga and sound experience. We chose the name TUNE IN because that's really what the experience is about. Tuning in to ourselves, our bodies, our breath and our voices. Taking a little time away from the busyness of everyday life to slow down, reconnect and simply be.

A few weeks ago, we ran our very first TUNE IN at a wonderful space called Prana Voice. The afternoon began with an hour of singing with me, followed by a yin yoga session with Cyrièle, and finished with a beautiful sound bath led by Cyrièle.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our first session! We had a full room of curious faces, all open to exploring this new concept, and it was so lovely to share the afternoon with you all. Thank you for being part of bringing this idea to life.

COULD THIS BE FOR YOU?
One of the things I really want people to take away from this experience is that you don't need to be a singer or a yogi to join us. You don't need experience, you don't need to feel confident about your voice, and you certainly don't need to be able to sing in tune! All you need is an open mind and a willingness to give yourself a little time and space. Our hope is that you'll leave feeling more grounded, relaxed and connected with yourself.

We'll certainly be arranging another TUNE IN soon! If you missed this one, you can sign up here to receive updates about the next session, or simply follow Cyrièle and me on social media.

I'll also soon have some news about another online workshop coming up this autumn, so keep an eye out for that too.

Until then, keep singing ✨

Lots of love,
Malin

PS! If you came along to our first TUNE IN workshop, we'd absolutely love to hear your feedback. Please take a moment to visit this survey and tell us about your experience. It would help us so much when planning the next one!
